A compact day bag is more useful on a Wilpattu safari than a suitcase full of possibilities. You need to reach essentials while sitting in a jeep and keep loose items away from other passengers. Pack for your own session, comfort needs and equipment, then confirm anything you expect the operator to supply.

Bring drinking water, practical sun protection, a light rain layer, camera or binoculars if wanted, and essential personal items. Do not assume water, meals, specialist equipment or luggage storage are included in the jeep rate.
For the current service, price and enquiry options, see our Wilpattu safari booking details.
Keep the essentials within reach
Use a small bag that closes securely. Put water and regularly needed items where you can reach them without unpacking across the seat. Carry required personal medication and the contact or booking information you need, while keeping valuables secure. Discuss unusual storage or medical equipment requirements with the team in advance. A general packing list cannot establish what a particular vehicle can accommodate.
Protect yourself and your equipment
Choose comfortable clothing for an outdoor drive, a hat that can be secured and footwear that is practical for entering the vehicle. Use suitable sun protection and bring a light layer for changing conditions. Cameras and phones benefit from a protective bag against dust or rain. Keep straps contained and avoid equipment projecting into another passenger’s space or beyond the vehicle.
Leave the unnecessary luggage behind
Large suitcases, multiple camera bags and bulky picnic items can limit comfortable seating. If you are checking out or travelling onwards, ask where luggage can safely remain rather than planning to take everything into the park jeep. Bring a bag for your own litter and take it back with you. Ask about food and current park restrictions before packing snacks or a meal.
