Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Established in 1975 for the protection of orphaned elephants, the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage provides daily care for almost 100 elephants. It is considered a global symbol of Sri Lankan elephant conservation, and even draws attention from scientists, animal activists, and tourists alike.

Temple of the Tooth Relic

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988, enshrines Buddha's left Canine tooth. Revered by Buddhists worldwide, the temple showcases unique Kandyan architecture and is adorned with intricate carvings.

Royal Botanical Garden

Established in 1821, the Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya spans 61.25 hectares near Kandy. Enclosed by the Mahaweli River, except on the south, the gardens are home to over 4,000 plant species, including trees, palms, ferns, orchids, and shrubs, making it a botanical haven.
