Staying in Negombo does not mean you need to travel into Colombo before starting your Sigiriya visit. The important detail is your actual starting point: a beach hotel, a town address and an airport-area property can require different meeting arrangements.

Make the meeting point unambiguous
Use the property’s full name and a map pin, especially where hotels have similar names or multiple entrances. Let reception know that you are expecting a private driver and decide whether to meet in the lobby or at the vehicle entrance. If you are leaving another accommodation before the tour, clarify which location is the real pickup point. A clear handover avoids starting an already long day with a search for the right address.
Separate hotel pickup from flight logistics
An airport-area hotel is not the same as an arrivals-hall meeting. If you want to begin directly after landing, disclose the flight date, arrival time, luggage and onward hotel plans so a separate arrangement can be assessed. Immigration, baggage collection and fatigue make this different from collecting rested travellers at a hotel. Do not assume that a hotel-pickup tour automatically includes flight monitoring or airport meet-and-greet services.
Confirm where the day ends
The published cultural route returns to your hotel after sightseeing. If you want to finish in Colombo, stay near Sigiriya or continue elsewhere, ask for that change before booking. A different endpoint affects the transport plan and may affect the quotation. For a conventional return to Negombo, keep the evening flexible and remember that the stated 11–12 hours is an approximate whole-day allowance, not a guaranteed arrival time.
