Meet your driver at Bandaranaike International Airport and travel south on the expressway to Galle, about two and a half hours.
Check in to a boutique hotel inside the fort and walk the ramparts at sunset.

Explore the fort’s lanes, churches, cafés and the lighthouse at your own pace.
In the afternoon, take the short drive to Unawatuna for a swim, then return to the fort for dinner.

Coast road to Tangalle

Drive east along the coast, stopping at Coconut Tree Hill in Mirissa and the bay at Weligama. Tangalle is about two hours from Galle without stops.
Check in at a beach hotel near Tangalle and spend the evening on the sand.

Tangalle has some of the quietest beaches on the south coast. Spend the day swimming in sheltered coves when the sea is calm, or at the hotel pool.
In season, whale watching from Mirissa is possible as an early morning trip.

Visit the rock temple at Mulkirigala, or keep the day free. In the evening, a visit to the turtle conservation project at Rekawa gives a chance to see nesting turtles on the beach.

To Negombo for a final sunset

Drive north to Negombo, about four hours using the expressway.
Spend a last evening by the beach, close to the airport for your flight.
