Originally built by the Portuguese in the 16th century during their conquests, Galle Fort was further developed by the Dutch and the British over their colonial rule over hundreds of years. Inside, you will be able to see the Dutch Reformed Church, All Saints Church, the Galle lighthouse and bell tower

Located in Galle's historic Dutch warehouse, the Maritime Museum educates the public on the Southern coastal area's marine biology. Destroyed by the 2004 tsunami and rebuilt with Dutch assistance, the museum now showcases watercraft, fishing traditions, marine ecosystems, and a striking whale skeleton.
